September 2017 Blogging Income Report

Say goodbye to September, and hello to my official six month blogging income report!

Yep, you read that right! I have now been on this crazy journey to build my own brand, and create something entirely my own for six whole months. What have I figured out? That this blogging thing a completely plausible income stream if you are willing to put the work into it. How do I know? Because this blog has been a lot more work than I ever thought it would be,and I am starting to see the income pay off.

While I have had ups and downs, I have learned so much in the last six months. I plan to continue learning as much as I can in the coming months so that I can continue to grow and expand my little blog, and be able to bring more to my amazing readers! However, lets get to what you came here to read. Here are my stats for the month of September.

Income

Guys, I have finally been seeing my income start to take off a little bit, and I am getting excited about it. I have been learning tips and tricks about how best to utilize different affiliates, and it is starting to show! I plan to continue to use the techniques I have been learning throughout this month, and I hope it will take me places for next month. In the meantime however, here is how September performed for me:

  • Google Adsense- $38.90
  • Share-a-Sale- $0.00
  • Bluehost-$0.00
  • Amazon-$7.96
  • Media.Net-$4.11
  • Izea– $4.54
  • Commun.It-$.25

Total: $55.76

Ok, so I am not rolling in the Benjamin’s yet, but I am slowly increasing my income! I managed to add another affiliate this month with Commun.it, which I have been using to grow my Twitter following. Commun.it has allowed me quickly engage with my top Twitter followers, as well as quickly add or remove people from my profile to increase my profile visibility and standing. Best part is, it is completely FREE to join, and if you do decide you want to purchase the business plan, you can get it 80% off through this link! Go ahead, give it a click and go try it, it is so worth it.

Traffic

So my “Eureka” moment of figuring out how to go viral on Pinterest last month kind of backfired on me this month. The result? My traffic was not as high. If you compare though, it did not really affect my income so I am not crying over it. Here is what my traffic looked like for September:

Visitors: 1477

So my traffic was not overly impressive for September, but I do have plans to improve it! First off, I joined a challenge on one of my Facebook groups to publish 30 posts in 30 days. This is going to be a lot of work on my part because I refuse to let my quantity of posts out do my quality. Are you a fellow blogger who wants to join the challenge yourself? Click here to join the group!

The other thing I plan to do to increase my traffic is to really dig back into Pinterest. Right now I am using Boardbooster (which you can try for free here) to schedule my pins and keep things active when I am not actively pinning on Pinterest. This has increased my traffic in the last couple months I have been using it, but it looks like it is time for me to try some different campaigns. I also plan to look back into using Tailwind (which you can get a free $15 credit for here) in order to join some new tribes and see if I can circulate content that way. Hopefully, it will mean big things for October, but we will see!

Posts

So in my last income report, I mentioned that I was really going to try to publish more posts in September. Well guess what? I totally managed to publish one more post!

Ok, so it really wasn’t worth celebrating for everyone, but for me it was an accomplishment. This is because I have been running a blog from my couch with three children (9,3, and 7 months) running circles around me. I have managed to do all of the “mom” things required of me for the month, and still publish 4 posts. What did those posts look like? Take a look!

August 2017 Blogging Income Report – A report very similar to this one, only not as much success. I am growing folks!

20 Self Care ideas for Mom that take 30 Minutes or Less – Because all of us Mom’s need to find more ways to make “mom time” everyday that does not revolve around eating an entire box of Twinkies by ourselves, then being depressed that we didn’t save any for tomorrow.

5 Mom Shirts Under $20 to add to your Wardrobe– If you do not yet own a cute “mom” saying shirt, #1 they are totally in right now, and #2 you can get one for under $20 by checking out this post. Do it, these are seriously cute.

Foods to Boost your Milk Supply while Aiding in Weight Loss – This is my latest post in my Breastfeeding weight loss series that I started here. If you are a nursing momma, or you know one, you should seriously check it out!

Social Media Following

My following has been on a pretty steady rise, and it excites me that my brand is getting out there! If you are someone who has shared one of my posts or pages with your friends, I cannot thank you enough! Here is how my social media following has grown over the last month:

Facebook178 195
Instagram2,326 2403
Twitter 6,150 7,681
Pinterest
395 555

Also, apparently my followers are finding my witty banter on Twitter to be funny. I have had some pretty amazing engagement going on over there! Want to know what I tweet about? Here is my latest…

Yeah, my momma raised me well.

Take Away

So what have I learned over the last 6 months? A couple of things actually. For your sake (and your children who are probably screaming in the background like mine are), I will keep it short.

Blogging is A LOT of work. The good thing? I really enjoy it, and it has given me a creative outlet to express myself while building something entirely my own. I am here to tell you, not all of my friends can say that they work for themselves. (However they are probably bringing in more than $50 a month after 6 months with their job, so there is that too.)

It doesn’t happen overnight. Nor does it happen in a couple of days, a week, or even a month. While Bluehost makes it super easy and cheap to start your blog, getting people to your site and keeping them coming back takes time, energy, and a lot of wine and coffee. My brand has taken 6 months to get to where I can see lucrative results. The time I have put into it though has been so worth it.

It will pay off if you put the investments into it. I have invested time, money, tears, and a lot of cuss words into the creation of TheCrazySAHM. This being said, in September I received my first offer on a sponsored blog post through Linqia. Linqia is a company who matches influencers with compatible brands. No joke, I called my mom and cried. This was the moment that made me realize that my blog has become something.

Blogging itself is not hard. It is much like writing in a journal. A journal that is going to be published online for your friends, family, enemies, the internet and God to see. It is everything that comes with blogging that is hard. If you are willing to put the work into making it happen however, I promise, it will pay off.

So there is my sixth month of blogging in a nutshell. Anything you were surprised to see? Anything you want to know more about? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Congratulations on the income this month! I’ve really enjoyed your posts in September and, as one of your twitter followers, your witty twitter banter 🙂 I noticed that my pinterest engagement is down this month (possibly because I haven’t posted as much as I had planned) so I’m really interested to see if you find an increase with boardbooster and tailwind! Have a great month!

    1. Thanks for following my journey Alana! I am really hopeful that my pinterest will be making leaps and bounds as far as engagement goes, but I have a feeling I have a lot to learn about Tailwind :P. You should seriously consider joining the Facebook group 30 Day Blogging Challenge. I have now posted 3 days in a row (which as we know from previous income reports is unheard of.) It has been great motivation!
